The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept in removing dog hair. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top option. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to become stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of a room. It's still a good deal, especially if your home or office has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and operates when you're at work or school. The only thing it lacks that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and fills up the water tank, and washes and drys mop pads. The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, navigating more intelligently than some of its premium rivals. It also has a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions. The vacuum cleaner comes with the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also has an option known as “Intelligent Dirt Detection”, that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the house depending on how dirty the areas are. For larger houses it's worth looking for models that has zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a particular area of your home by using the app or via voice commands.
